HeelTech on ZOOM

Sundays @11am (PST)

This technique class is focused on the use of our feet. Whether wearing high heels or not, having strong, articulate feet and ankles helps to improve our balance and supports us while we dance.

In this class we will focus on foot and ankle articulation, coordination, strength, and mobility and the way we transfer our weight onto the shoe.

A recording of each class is available to members for 14 days. Go to: Dashboard --> Live Class Recordings.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Checklist

Get set up for class! This is what you need:

  • A space in your home where you can take a few steps in each direction

  • Maybe a glass of wine for mood, and a glass of water for hydration💦

Heel Tech is for anyone looking to build foot strength and improve body awareness. On its surface, the course is super chill and relaxing— but in slowing down to articulate through the foot, feel the ground, and notice sensations in the body (axis) during weight shifts/transfers, I find that I am becoming noticeably more connected to the ground and to my own body when I dance. Amazing!!

The Los Angeles Tango Academy has set the standard for online tango instruction with comprehensive classes to keep you improving your dance whether you have access to a partner or not. I do their hour long Full Workout class as often as possible. They offer live zoom classes three times a week which allow you to ask the instructors about your technique. Each month they change some of the drills to keep your workout fresh and challenging. I have been able to dance every day during quarantine thanks to LATA. You can also learn about the music, how to strengthen your feet to dance in heels, and do strengthening and stretching exercises. It is also incredibly affordable. there is a low flat monthly fee the more you practice the cheaper it gets! I do a class every day and after only about a month really feel the improvement especially in strength and balance.

Why do we practice solo?

For us at LA Tango Academy, solo drills are a big part of our training. Doing solo exercises helps us develop our own movement so that when we dance with a partner, everything feels and works even better. While practicing solo feels very different and will never replace dancing with a partner, it’s essential to becoming the dancers we want to be...
